SEO News

What’s great about Google is that it never takes itself for granted. This most popular search giant regularly have new updates to its algorithm which is often unnoticed by the average user but produce a great deal of buzz and discussion across digital and SEO agencies in the online marketing world. And the latest SEO algorithm update of Google is all about “freshness.”

The plan of Google is creating the most effective search engine in the world. Its latest update in algorithm takes another step closer to this target by adding fresh criteria to search engine results; in other words, the content which appears in the search engine results is always as fresh as Google can make it. It does not mean that the content in the search results is in chronological order but the results you will find will be checked for their age to determine its relevance as part of Google’s process.

But what is relevance to Google? For them, it has hundreds of factors as freshness being the newest development. Google’s Freshness comprises social networks like Twitter, Facebook and Google+ that have added tools to Google’s weapon because it can now crawl the content from those social networks and figure out which content interests the people most, know what it is, and if it is relevant for the search engine results. RSS feed is used by Google to know which content from a certain site is the freshest. And, it is sometimes imitated in its results. The BBC site is the good example of this where a user usually searches for “BBC news”.

Providing unique and fresh content, businesses now have huge chances of appearing in search engines for their important terms. The main objectives of search engines are usually social media campaign, brand awareness, and in some cases direct commercial benefits, however, search engines had always influenced social media and now the content that came from social networks may be influenced so that it can have a direct benefit in the search engines. And by creating a digital social object which is in the form of an application on Facebook, a micro-site, or even a blog, the news that the content will have has greater benefits in the searches.

The update from Google has added more value to blogs and RSS feeds. They now became a main source of fresh content for Google to have. We are all aware that a blog provides important benefits from the marketing and communications point of view.  But freshness update now means that a blog and RSS feed can be more of a force in terms of SEO, because they can influence the content within a site’s search results a bit more.  Blogs never had a big opportunity to have an impact on SEO. While none of the aforementioned represents a big shift in the strategy or habits of brands and businesses through the use of blogs or social networks; links from those definitely have more possibility to add value to social media campaigns via search benefits and vice versa. According to an integrated PR, social media, you should never miss these huge benefits you’ll be receiving.
